Mummy Dog Ingredients
A juicy hotdog is wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough and air fryed or baked until golden brown. Serve with lots of ketchup and/or mustard for dunking. One of our favorite dipping sauces is Duke’s Southern Dipping Sauce.
- Crescent rolls – our favorite is Pillsbury. But, any brand will do
- Hot dogs – we’ve made these mummy dogs with a variety of different hotdogs. Use whatever you have on hand or prefer
- Edible eyeballs (optional) – the candy eyes add an extra spooky touch
- Ketchup and mustard or any dipping sauce you enjoy
How To Make Halloween Mummy Dogs
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle into thin strips (about 1/4 inch wide).
The length of strips doesn’t matter since you’ll be wrapping the dough around the hotdogs.
Take one hot dog and start wrapping it with a crescent roll strip, leaving a small gap for the face.
Continue wrapping until the hot dog is covered, resembling a mummy.
Repeat this step with the remaining hot dogs and crescent roll strips.
Place the wrapped hot dogs in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
The crescent roll dough will puff up a little while cooking and if they’re touching you risk the hot dogs sticking together.
We like to line our air fryer with a liner to make clean up easier.
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or until the crescent rolls are puffed up and golden brown. Air fryers vary, so you may need to add an extra minute or two.
Remove the Halloween mummy dogs from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. We like to place them on a wire rack while they cool so they don’t get soggy.
Place the edible eyeballs in the gap you left for the face. If needed, you can use a tiny bit of mustard or ketchup to help the eyeballs stick.
Serve the mummy dogs warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or mustard.
Baked Halloween Mummy Dogs
These simple Halloween mummy dogs can also be baked in a conventional oven.
If you would prefer to bake your mummy hot dogs you’ll need to start by spraying your baking sheet with cooking spray so the mummy dogs don’t stick.
Place your wrapped hot dogs about 2 inches apart.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for approximately 12-15 minutes or until the dough is puffed up and golden brown.
