Valentine Memory Game
Sometimes the best activities are the simplest ones.
This Valentine matching game takes about two minutes to prep and kids will happily play round after round. You don’t need supplies, setup, or instructions they have to remember. Just print it, cut the cards, and set them on the table.
It’s the kind of Valentine’s day activity you can pull out after school, during quiet time, or while you finish making dinner, and everyone instantly understands how to play.
What Is the Valentine Memory Game?

This is a classic matching game with a Valentine’s Day twist.
Kids match the word cards to the picture cards. So, they’re practicing reading and memory skills at the same time.
Instead of matching identical images, they match:
- heart → heart picture
- flowers → flower bouquet
- cupid → cupid illustration
This makes the Valentine memory game more engaging and adds gentle learning without feeling like schoolwork.
Why Kids Love It
- Feels like a game, not a worksheet
- Bright, friendly Valentine images
- Quick rounds which is perfect for short attention spans
- Works for mixed ages

How to Use the Game

Step 1: Print
Print the page on cardstock if possible. We recommend Neenah White cardstock for all our activities, crafts and printables. But, regular paper works too if you don’t have any.
Step 2: Cut
Cut along the dotted lines to make the cards.
Tip: Younger kids love helping with this part.
Step 3: Play
Shuffle the cards and lay them face down in a grid.
Players take turns flipping two cards at a time:
- If the word matches the picture → keep the pair
- If not → flip them back over
The player with the most matches wins.
Easy Ways to Adapt for Different Ages
Preschool
- Play with fewer pairs
- Keep cards face-up for a vocabulary game
Kindergarten
- Say the word aloud after flipping
- Help sound out unfamiliar words
Older Kids
- Turn it into a speed challenge
- Add a timer
- Play in teams
Perfect For
- Classroom Valentine centers
- Homeschool activities
- Valentine’s Day parties
- After-school quiet time
- Snow day boredom busters
Helpful Printing Tip
Laminate the cards or cover with clear tape so you can reuse them every year.
