Ingredients & Supplies
- 9 inch round baking pan
- Box of brownie mix or your favorite homemade brownies
- Green frosting or any other festive color you want to use. We used a 7oz tube of icing.
- 8 Reece’s miniatures for the tree trunk. Alternatively you can use a peppermint stick for a candy cane trunk
- 2-3 tablespoons of holiday sprinkles
* Don’t have green icing handy? In a small bowl, add a couple of drops of green food coloring to white icing, vanilla frosting or melted white candy melts to make your own. Use a a small piping bag or pastry bag to decorate.
Recipe Tips
Add some vanilla extract to boxed brownie mix – adding a tsp or two of good quality vanilla extract really help boost the rich chocolatey flavor.
Line your prepared pan with parchment paper – this simple tip guarantees your brownies wont stick to the pan.
Use nonstick cooking spray – if you don’t have any parchment paper, that’s okay! Spray your tin with a generous amount of cooking spray to make sure your brownie batter doesn’t stick.
Chill your brownies in the fridge to get clean cuts using a sharp knife – getting the perfect Christmas tree shape requires you cut your brownies into clean triangles. Popping the baked brownies into the fridge for a few hours help you get cleaner cuts.
Add dark chocolate or white chocolate chips to your batter to make your regular brownies even more chocolatey
How To Make Easy Christmas Tree Brownies
Prepare and bake your brownies in a very well greased 9 inch round pan. I used a box mix, and baked mine for approximately 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
Allow the brownies to cool completely at room temperature, then pop your brownie pan into the fridge. Refrigerate for a minimum of 30-45 minutes to help making cutting them in a triangle shape and removing from the pan easier.
Remove the brownies from the refrigerator, and gently run a large knife around the edges of the pan to help loosen the brownies.
This is why you need a very well greased pan, so this step is easy! If needed, gently run your knife along the bottom edge of the pan too.
Set the entire round batch of brownies on a cutting board or platter, and use a sharp butcher knife to cup the brownies into 8 triangles, slicing it like a pie.
Arrange the triangles in a row, with the wider edge at the bottom to make decorating easier.
Snip off the end of your icing, and moving your hand in a zigzag motion, create a “tree” on the top of the brownies.
Decorate with sprinkles to add a festive touch to each Christmas tree brownie.
Add a tiny dot of icing to the bottom of a Reese’s Miniature, and secure it to the bottom of the brownie Christmas trees.
Store in an airtight container to keep your Christmas tree brownies moist.
