This Rudolph printable Christmas countdown is a fun way for children to countdown to Christmas day. Starting December 1st use colorful pom poms or cotton balls to count down the number of days left until Christmas day.
Printable Christmas Countdown
The holiday season is quickly approaching and we’ve been working hard to add new Christmas printables to our collection of fun activities that help boost holiday spirit during the month of December.
Our Santa countdown activity advent calendar was so popular last year that we created another fun printable countdown you can use during the Christmas season.
This cute Rudolph free printable Christmas countdown calendar is an easy way for young children to count down to the big day on December 25th.
Our favourite thing about this diy countdown is that it’s a really fun activity for kids in preschool and kindergarten that also works on fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
It’s such a simple way to have some screen free Christmas fun during the festive season.
Supplies
- Free countdown printable – download the Rudolph template in pdf format at the very bottom of this post.
- Laser printer and white cardstock for printing Rudolph template
- Wax crayons, coloring pencils or washable markers
- 24 pom poms in assorted colors
- 1 large red pom pom for Rudolph’s nose
- Elmer’s glue, glue stick, glue dots or double-sided tape
- Self-laminating sheet and dry-erase marker (optional)
Instructions
Print the Rudolph template on white cardstock. We do not recommend you use regular printer paper for this craft. You really want your own countdown calendar to last the whole month. So, a higher quality thick paper is necessary.
Use wax crayons, coloring pencils or markers to color Rudolph’s head and antlers. Leave the numbered circles and Rudolph’s nose uncolored.
If desired, use crayons or markers to add any other designs, details, or decorations in the blank space around Rudolph’s head.
Encourage young crafters to get creative!
Have children start using their free Christmas countdown calendar on December 1st.
Use a small dot of glue, glue dot or double sided tape to stick a colored pom pom on top of the circle with the number 1 on the first day of December.
Continue gluing a pom pom in different colors on each of the countdown numbers until the 24th of December.
At the end of the 24th day of December (and right before bedtime), glue the large red pom pom on Rudolph’s nose in anticipation of his arrival on Christmas Eve and the completion of the countdown to Christmas!
*Teacher Tip – want to use this Christmas countdown advent calendar in the classroom? Use self-laminating sheets to make our Rudolph Christmas countdown reusable! Then, let children use dry-erase markers to mark off number. It’s a great number recognition activity for kiddos in preschool and kindergarten.
