The month of October is right around the corner and we’ve been busy working on fun Halloween crafts behind the scenes.
Today, we’re excited to share this easy bat craft with you. This fun craft idea is simple enough for young kids but complex enough to keep older kids attention too. Children of all ages will have a great time creating these adorable bats.
Made with basic materials – construction paper is used to create the bat’s body, bat wings and eyes. Tracing and cutting the bat shape is also a great way to work on hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
With a full tutorial including step-by-step instructions and a free printable bat template you can easily download at the bottom of this post – this simple craft is a great addition to any Halloween bucket list.
Craft Supplies
Here are the simple supplies you’ll need to make this easy bat craft.
- free bat template – the free printable template you’ll need to make this cute bat craft can be found at the very bottom of this blog post.
- construction paper – you’ll need one sheet each of black paper and white paper
- glue stick – we don’t recommend using liquid glue.
- scissors – we love these blunt tip scissors for little hands. They offer a comfort grip a child’s hands while they practice cutting.
- googly eyes (optional) – if you’re making this with very small children and toddlers you can opt to use googly eyes instead of making your own.
Paper Bat Craft
Print a copy of our free template on a white piece of paper. To download the easy bat craft template you’ll need to fill in the form located at the very bottom of this post. Cut out the bat’s wings.
Trace the bat’s wings on black paper and cut them out.
Create the bat’s body by folding a piece of black paper in half and cutting out a half circle.
Trace circles to make your bat’s eyes. We made 2 larger white circles and2 medium sized black circles. We then cut out 2 smaller circles to create pupils for our bat. If you want to skip this step you can use self-adhesive googly eyes.
Glue your bat’s eyes onto the bat’s body.
Glue the bat’s wings to the back of the bat body.
