Patriotic Paper Plate Wreath Craft
This fun patriotic paper plate wreath craft is a great 4th of July craft for younger children.
A paper plate is painted in patriotic colors and then decorated with red, white and blue star shapes.
Simple enough for even the youngest kids and made with everyday items, this is a fun project to make in honor of Independence day, Labor Day, Memorial Day or even Flag Day.
Children will proudly want to display their finished wreath craft because it makes a great decoration.

What You’ll Need
Making this fourth of July wreath craft uses very simple supplies you can buy online via Amazon or at your local Dollar Tree or dollar store.

Here is what you’ll need to make your own patriotic paper plate wreath craft.

- printer and white paper to print our star template
- Paper plate – we used 6 inch dessert plates
- Red and blue acrylic paint & a paint brush for painting your paper plate
- Red and blue markers, crayons or coloring pencils for coloring your stars
- Scissors for cutting out the center of your paper plate
- A glue stick, white school glue or hot glue
- Hole punch
- Red or blue ribbon
- Foam stickers, gems (optional)
How To Make A Patriotic Wreath Craft
Using scissors cut out the center of your paper plate.
A great way to get this done is to fold your paper plate in half to make cutting out the inner part of the plate easy.
Depending on the age of your child, you’ll have to give them a hand cutting out the middle of the paper plate.
Paint the outside of the paper plate using red and blue paint. We went with blue and red stripes on one of our wreaths and red and blue wreath for the other.
While your painted paper plates are drying, color your star template.
Use patriotic colors like red, blue and white to create your own star shapes.
You can even use our star template to trace red and blue construction paper stars if you want.
Using scissors, cut out each of the colored stars.
Especially young children may need some assistance cutting out their colored stars.
Use lots of glue to stick your cut out stars to your painted wreath shape.
Using a single hole punch, punch a hole in your patriotic paper plate wreath craft.
Thread a piece of red or blue ribbon/string through the hole to create a loop you can use to hang your wreath.
