What Is Multiplication?
Multiplication simply means adding equal groups together. When we multiply, the total number of things we have increases as we add these groups together to obtain our product.
Simply stated, multiplication means adding a group of the same thing together over and over again. When we multiply, we keep adding more and more of the same thing until all our groups have been added together. The two numbers and the product are parts of a multiplication problem.
For example, in the multiplication problem, 6 × 9 = 54, 6 and 9 are the factors and 54 is the product of the multiplication. This can otherwise be understood as the multiplication of 6 and 9 results in 54 because we added 6 groups of 9 together.
Another way to represent this problem is to imagine 6 groups of exactly 9 things.
When 6 groups of 9 things are added together it gives us 54.

The 1st times tables are the easiest for children to remember. To help children remember their 1s multiplication tables, tell them this neat trick: one times anything is simply itself.
2 x 1 = 2,

4 x 1 = 4,
