How to Make the Acorn Name Craft

Step 1: Print the Templates
Download and print the free oak tree and acorn templates on white cardstock. Cardstock works best because it’s sturdy and holds up well during coloring and gluing.
Step 2: Color the Oak Tree
Invite your child or student to color in the oak tree using crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
Step 3: Color the Acorns
Have your child color enough acorn cutouts to match the number of letters in their name. For example, the name “Olivia” would need 6 acorns.
Step 4: Cut Out the Tree and Acorns
Carefully cut out the colored oak tree and each individual acorn. Younger children may need adult help or pre-cut templates, depending on their scissor skills.
Step 5: Write One Letter Per Acorn
Using a black marker or Sharpie, write one letter of your child’s name on each acorn. You can do this step yourself or let your child practice writing the letters independently.
Step 6: Arrange the Acorns in Order
Lay the acorns out on the tree in the correct order to spell your child’s name. You can place them across the top of the tree, along the trunk, or even falling to the ground—whatever looks best!
Step 7: Glue the Acorns in Place
Once the name is arranged correctly, glue each acorn onto the tree. Press firmly and allow the glue to dry completely.
Step 8: Display Your Fall Craft
Your acorn name craft is now complete! Display it on a bulletin board, refrigerator, classroom wall, or send it home as a keepsake.
