Newspaper Apple Craft
We had such a great time making this newspaper apple craft! I love using newspaper for kids’ crafts—it’s budget-friendly, eco-conscious, and a fun way to enjoy screen-free time together.
This simple newspaper apple craft is perfect for fall and makes a wonderful back-to-school activity during those first few weeks in the classroom. It’s an easy, creative way to add some seasonal charm to bulletin boards or classroom doors.
Made with our free apple template, a little paint, and recycled newspaper, this project is ideal for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and early elementary students alike!
Supplies
- Free apple template – get a copy at the very bottom of this blog post
- White cardstock
- Old newspaper
- Scissors
- Glue stick or white glue
- Washable paint – we love using this Shuttle Art acrylic paint set
- Paintbrush
- Markers, colored pencils, or wax crayons to color the stem and leaf
How to Make a Newspaper Apple Craft
Print the Template
Print a copy of our free apple template on high-quality white cardstock. We recommend Neenah White for a sturdy, professional-looking result.
Cut Out the Apple
Use scissors to carefully cut out the apple shape from the cardstock.
Glue to Newspaper
Spread glue over the entire back of the apple shape and stick it face down onto a piece of old newspaper.
Trim the Edges
Once the glue is dry, use scissors to trim away the excess newspaper around the apple shape.
Paint the Apple
Choose red, green, or yellow paint and cover the newspaper side of the apple. Set it aside to dry completely.
Color the Stem and Leaf
Use markers, colored pencils, or wax crayons to color in the apple’s stem and leaf on the template. Cut them out once colored.
Assemble the Apple
Once the painted apple is dry, glue the stem and leaf to the top to complete your newspaper apple craft.
