How to Make a Torn Paper Jellyfish

Step 1: Print the Jellyfish Template
Start by printing a copy of our free jellyfish template. I recommend using Neenah White cardstock—it’s sturdy and holds up great with glue and coloring!

Step 2: Color the Tentacles
Grab some crayons, markers, or colored pencils and color in the jellyfish’s tentacles. Kids can get creative here with patterns, rainbow stripes, or anything they like!

Step 3: Tear the Paper
Choose a few colors of construction paper and tear them into small pieces. This part is great for fine motor skills—and kids love it!

Step 4: Glue the Body
Apply glue all over the jellyfish’s body (just the top part). Starting from the outer edges, press the torn paper pieces down to fill in the entire area. Keep layering until it’s nice and colorful!

Step 5: Add the Eyes
Carefully cut out the jellyfish eyes from the template. Then, glue them onto the body using just a dab of glue.

Step 6: Draw a Smile
Use a marker to add a smile—or maybe a silly smirk—to bring your jellyfish to life!

Step 7 (Optional): Cut It Out
If you’d like, cut out the entire torn paper jellyfish craft to display it on a bulletin board, door, wall, or window.
