Ingredients & Supplies
- Baking sheet & parchment paper or a silicone mat
- Microwave safe bowl
- 12 mini pretzel twists (you can even use square pretzels or pretzel sticks – we’ve even made this recipe with gluten-free pretzels)
- 1/2 cup of green candy melts
- 12 red heart sprinkles (any type of festive sprinkles would work well)
Instructions
Prepare the baking tray: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
Melt the Green Candy: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy coating according to the package instructions. We recommend microwaving in 15 second intervals to prevent scorching. Melting candy melts doesn’t take a long time. Stir until smooth.
Dip the Pretzels: Dip each of the mini pretzels into the melted green candy, using a fork to lift it out and allowing any excess candy to drip back into the bowl.
Place the dipped pretzels in single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Add heart sprinkles: Before the green candy hardens, place a red heart sprinkle on one side of each pretzel to represent the Grinch’s heart. You can also use holiday sprinkles if you don’t have hearts on hand.
Let the Pretzels Set: Allow the pretzels to sit at room temperature until the candy coating is fully hardened. You can speed up this process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 4-6 minutes.
Store and Enjoy: Once the easy pretzel treats are set, transfer them to an airtight container. They can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature for up to a week. We do not recommend freezing these Christmas pretzel snacks – freezing pretzels changes their texture.
