While they can’t wear it, it makes a cute keepsake and a fun decoration for a graduation celebration. Let’s grab the supplies and get crafting!
Supplies
- Graduation Cap Name Craft Template – Download a copy at the bottom of this post.
- Cardstock – For a sturdy cap, we recommend Neenah white cardstock — it holds up well and makes the craft look great. Or, use colored cardstock to skip the coloring. It’s up to you.
- Markers – Perfect for decorating the cap and writing the child’s name.
- Scissors – Child-safe scissors work best for little hands.
- Glue Stick or School Glue – To assemble the cap pieces securely.
Instructions
Print the Template – Start by printing a copy of our graduation cap template — you can download the PDF at the bottom of this post. We used colored cardstock for a pop of color, but white cardstock works too! If you’re using white, let kids get creative by decorating their caps with markers or crayons.
Cut Out the Pieces – Carefully cut out all the parts of your cap, including the cap itself, the tassel, and the letter circles.
Attach the Tassel – Use a small dab of glue to attach the tassel to the top of the cap. Let it dry for a minute to make sure it stays in place.
Write the Name – Grab a marker and write one letter on each circle to spell out the child’s name.
Assemble the Cap – Use a small amount of glue to attach the letter circles to the front of the cap in order. Let it dry, and you’re done!
