Supplies Needed
- Free printable cloud template – the free pdf file is provided below
- Cardstock – our go- to for these types of project is Neenah White
- Tissue paper squares
- Contact paper
- Scissors
- String or tape for hanging
How to Make a Cloud Suncatcher
1. Print and Cut the Template
Print the free cloud template onto regular paper or cardstock.
Carefully cut out the center of the cloud and sun so you create a frame.
Adults may want to pre-cut for younger children.
2. Prepare the Contact Paper

Cut a piece of contact paper slightly larger than the cloud frame.
Place it sticky side up on the table. You can tape the corners down if the corners are curling up – this is especially useful in the classroom.
3. Add Tissue Paper

Let kids fill the sun and cloud using tissue paper squares. Using tissue paper squares is a great way to learn about colors and work on fine motor.
They can:
- overlap colors
- create patterns
- make darker storm clouds
- or keep it light and fluffy
There is no wrong way and that freedom keeps kids engaged longer.
4. Seal the Suncatcher

Place a second sheet of contact paper on top to seal the design.
Press gently to remove air bubbles. Then, using scissor cut around the cloud shape to remove the excess contact paper.
6. Hang in a Window
Tape or hang using string – sunlight will do the rest ✨
