How To Make A Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Craft
Step 1 – To make your popsicle Christmas tree shape you need to glue green popsicle sticks in a triangle shape by putting a dab of glue in each corner.
If you are using popsicle sticks that are plain wood color you will need to paint them using green paint.
You can also paint your sticks different colors including red, blue or white.
Let the glue holding your triangular shape tree dry completely before moving on to the next step.
*Tip – if you’re in a rush and don’t have time to let the wood glue dry you can use a hot glue gun and a couple of dabs of hot glue. If going this route always supervise young children so they don’t get burned.
Step 2 – Decorate your Christmas tree popsicle stick ornament.
Get creative and decorate your tree in different ways.
Use pom poms, sparkles, pipe cleaners, cotton balls, sparkle glue, stickers or any other type of craft material you want to make your popsicle stick Christmas tree ornament festive and colorful.
*Tip – if you are making this Popsicle stick Christmas tree in a classroom, give each student a paper plate with a variety of decoration supplies.
Step 3 – Cut out a small piece of cardboard for the tree trunk using heavy duty scissors.
Stick it to the back of your popsicle stick Christmas tree using glue.
You can also use brown construction paper if you don’t have cardboard.
*Tip- if you’re using really thick cardboard you may have to use a utility knife for cutting. If you do go this route make sure kids are supervised so they do not cut themselves.
Step 4 – Cut out a star from felt to stick to the top of the tree using glue. You can also use colorful scrapbook paper, construction paper or a star sticker.
Step 5 – Form a loop using a 2 inch piece of cord and glue it to the back of the tree so you can hang your completed popsicle stick Christmas craft.
