Thanksgiving Thankful Turkey Printable
We love celebrating Thanksgiving with the whole family. At our house, Thanksgiving dinner is usually a really casual gathering of all our extended family.
We prepare loads of good food, play Thanksgiving bingo, take part in gratitude activities, watch football and catch up on life.
It isn’t a fancy affair but it’s so much fun to spend quality time with family members we don’t always get the opportunity to see.
This year we came up with a fun thanksgiving craft for the kids in our family.
Our Thankful turkey craft is a great way to encourage younger kids to think about what they are grateful for.
It’s an easy Thanksgiving craft for kids of all ages to express thankfulness leading up to Thanksgiving day. We enjoyed it so much that I’m sure it’ll become a fun tradition we’ll do from year to year.
Plus, it’s an easy activity that works on fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination. So, this cute thanksgiving craft would also be a great activity for teachers to use with preschool or kindergarten students.

How to Make A Thankful Turkey Craft
Print a copy of our thanksgiving thankful turkey printable. Color the turkey body and turkey feathers using different colors.
To make our turkey festive we colored each tail feather in either yellow, orange or red. We used markers but kids can also use wax crayons or coloring pencils.
Using a black marker, trace the outer edge of each of the turkey’s tail feathers.
Tracing the outline in black really makes the turkey feathers pop.
Write something you are thankful for on each tail feather.
Encourage children to get creative and write different things on each feather. We used a black marker to make our writing pop.
*Teacher tip: use our Thanksgiving thankful turkey printable in your lesson plans as a creative writing activity for older children. Have middle school or high school students expand on each thing they are thankful for using seasonal vocabulary!
Cut out the turkey and each feather.
Especially young children may need some help cutting out the body of the turkey.
Glue the turkey feathers to the back of your turkey using a glue stick or glue dots.
You’ll have enough feathers to glue 3 feathers to the left and right side of the body of the turkey.
*Note: there are 3 feathers that are designed to be glued to the left and 3 feathers that are designed to be glued to the right. Be mindful of the direction before gluing.
