Popsicle Name Craft
Summer is just around the corner! And, I’ve been busy designing fun and engaging crafts for my craft group, and this colorful popsicle name craft is a perfect screen-free activity for kids to enjoy during the summer.
With just a few simple supplies—cardstock, markers, glue, and scissors—this low-prep summer boredom buster is a great way for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and early elementary kids to celebrate the season.
The best part? While getting creative, young children will also strengthen their fine motor skills and practice name recognition!
Supplies
Popsicle Template – Grab the free PDF template at the bottom of this blog post.
Cardstock – We love Neenah white cardstock for a sturdy, high-quality finish.
Markers, Colored Pencils, or Crayons – Perfect for decorating your popsicle.
Scissors – We recommend kid-safe scissors for little hands.
Glue – A glue stick or traditional school glue both work well.
Black Marker or Sharpie – Ideal for writing names and adding a cheerful smile!
Instructions
❶ Print & Color – Print the popsicle name craft template on high-quality white cardstock. Use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to decorate the popsicle and its accessories. Be sure to color one circle for each letter in the child’s name.
❷ Cut It Out – Using kid-safe scissors, carefully cut out the popsicle, eyes, and name circles.
❸ Attach the Eyes – Apply a small amount of glue to stick the cartoon eyes near the top of the popsicle.
❹ Create the Name – Arrange and glue the name circles just above the popsicle stick.
❺ Write the Letters – Use a black Sharpie to write one letter per circle to spell the child’s name.
❻ Add a Smile – Draw a happy mouth on the popsicle to bring it to life!
