Rocket Name Craft
Our rocket name craft is so much fun for kids in preschool and kindergarten.
It’s a great addition to any space themed unit at school or a home crafting activity for kiddos who love space.
Made with very simple materials like cardstock, glue and markers – our rocket name craft is not only fun to make but works on name recognition and fine motor.
Supplies
- Rocket template – download it at the bottom of this blog post
- White cardstock
- Markers, wax crayons or coloring pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black marker or sharpie
Instructions
Color & Cut the Stars and Rocket
Have the kids start by coloring in the rocket and enough stars to spell out their name.
Encourage them to get creative with their color choices — they can stick to a theme like outer space colors (blues, purples, silvers) or go for a bright and bold mix.
Once they’re happy with their designs, carefully cut out the rocket and the stars.
Tip: If your little one needs help cutting, you can jump in and provide a little help!
Glue the Stars onto the Rocket
Using a small amount of glue (a glue stick works well to avoid mess), attach the stars to the rocket.
Make sure to line them up in order — one star for each letter in their name.
You can position the stars in a straight line down the rocket or create a fun, staggered pattern to make it look like the rocket is zooming through space!
Let the glue dry for a minute or two before moving on.
Write the Letters on the Stars
Once the glue is dry, grab a black marker or Sharpie and carefully write one letter of the child’s name on each star.
Start at the top of the rocket and work your way down.
If a mistake happens, no worries — just cut out another star and try again.
