Instructions
Step 1: Print and Prep
Start by printing out our rainbow heart name craft template on white cardstock and cutting out the various parts using scissors. We swear by Neenah white cardstock — it’s super durable and holds up perfectly for crafts like this one. It’s a total game-changer for name recognition projects!
Step 2: Color the Rainbow
Let the kids get creative! They can stick to classic rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) or mix it up with their favorite shades. There’s no wrong way to color a rainbow — anything goes!
Step 3: Prepare the Hearts
Next, have the kids color in the number of hearts they’ll need to spell their name. If their name has five letters, they’ll need five hearts. Let them pick their favorite color for the hearts — it adds a fun personal touch!
Step 4: Write the Letters
Now it’s time to add the letters. Have the kids write one letter of their name on each heart using a black Sharpie. If they’re worried about making mistakes, they can write lightly with a pencil first and then trace over it with the Sharpie or a black marker.
Step 5: Assemble the Craft
Finally, glue the hearts to the bottom of the rainbow in the correct order to spell their name. A little dab of glue goes a long way! Once it’s dry, they’ll have a beautiful, personalized rainbow to show off. 🌈
