Instructions

Print a copy of our free suncatcher template. Using scissors cut out the template being mindful to leave the black border around the heart intact. If you’re crafting with really small kids you make want to give them a hand with this step.

Rip or cut tissue paper into small squares. We used red and pink to make our heart suncatcher festive for Valentine’s day. We cut our tissue paper into different shapes like squares and triangles to make our suncatcher have some visual interest.

Using tape stick your contact paper down on your work surface with the sticky side facing up. Place your heart template on the contact paper. We used a couple of pieces of clear tape to keep the contact paper from moving while we worked.

Start sticking small pieces of tissue paper to the sticky surface of the contact paper inside the heart template until all the sticky parts are covered. You do not need to cover the outside of the heart since that excess strip will get cut off.

Trim off the excess contact paper on the outside of your heart.

Proudly display your heart suncatcher in a window by putting a glue dot or piece of double-sided tape on the top of the suncatcher. Watch how sunlight bounces and reflects light off your creation.
