Lion Name Craft
I’m so excited to share this adorable lion name craft with you! It’s a fun and simple activity that kids are going to love—especially if they’re wild about animals.
Using our free printable template, some cardstock, markers, scissors, and glue, your little ones can create their very own king of the jungle with a mane made out of the letters in their name!
This lion name craft is perfect for preschoolers and early elementary kiddos who are working on name recognition and letter order.
It’s a great fit for zoo themes, animal units, classroom name displays, or just a fun afternoon of screen-free creativity at home.

Supplies
- Free Lion Template – Grab your printable at the bottom of this post!
- Cardstock – Choose colors like orange, yellow, gold, or red for a bold, fiery mane.
- Coloring Tools – Markers, colored pencils, or crayons all work great!
- Scissors – For cutting out the lion and name pieces.
- Glue Stick or School Glue – To assemble your lion craft.
- Black Marker or Sharpie – Perfect for writing your child’s name or adding extra details.
Instructions
Step 1: Download and print the free lion template. Print page 1 on colored cardstock (orange, yellow, gold, or red works great for the mane) and page 2 on white cardstock.
Step 2: Color in the lion’s face using markers, colored pencils, or crayons—let kids get creative with it!
Step 3: Carefully cut out the lion’s face and as many letter circles as you need to spell out the child’s name (one circle per letter).
Step 4: Glue the lion’s face onto the matching head shape from the colored cardstock.
Step 5: Arrange and glue the letter circles around the lion’s head to create a fun, personalized mane.
Step 6: Use a black marker or Sharpie to write one letter of the child’s name on each circle.
