Supplies
- Sun template – download the free template the very bottom of this post.
- Cardstock – Used for printing the template. We chose a light blue for our background, but any color works.
- Construction paper – Plan to have two shades of yellow paper
- Scissors – For cutting out the sun’s eyes and mouth.
- Glue stick – To assemble the sun.
- Pink and red markers – For adding details.
Instructions
Print the sun template on cardstock. Use colored cardstock for the first page (we used blue) and white cardstock for the second for best results.
Tear your first piece of yellow construction paper into small pieces. Using a small amount of glue stick the pieces to the center of the sun.
Tear your second piece of yellow paper into small pieces. Using a small amount of glue stick the pieces around the sun to create the rays.
Cut out the eyes and stick them on using a dab of glue.
Color the mouth using a red marker and cut it out. Use a small amount of glue to stick the mouth onto the sun.
Color the cheeks using a pink marker and cut them out. Use a small amount of glue to stick them on either side of the sun’s mouth.
Let your torn paper sun craft dry completely before displaying it.
