Torn Paper Bumblebee Craft

This engaging craft is a fantastic way to boost creativity and fine motor skills. As children tear and place pieces of paper to create their own bumblebee, they strengthen their fine motor muscles while having fun.
Whether you’re looking for a creative spring craft or a simple, low-prep bee craftivity for a rainy afternoon, this torn paper bumblebee craft is a wonderful way to encourage artistic expression and skill development—plus, it’s just plain fun to make!
Supplies
- Bumblebee template – download the free template the very bottom of this post.
- Cardstock – Used for printing the template. We chose a bright blue for our background, but any color works.
- Construction paper – Plan to have one sheet each of green, yellow, white and black.
- Scissors – For cutting out the bumblebee’s eyes and mouth.
- Glue stick – To assemble the bumblebee.
- Red and black markers – For adding details.
Instructions
Print the bumblebee template on cardstock. Use blue cardstock for the first page and white cardstock for the second for best results.
Tear yellow construction paper into small pieces. Apply a small amount of glue, then stick the pieces onto the bumblebee’s head.
Tear black and yellow construction paper into small pieces. Using a small amount of glue, alternate the colors to create the bee’s striped body.
Tear green construction paper into small pieces. Using a small amount of glue, stick them onto the grassy area beneath the bee.
Tear white construction paper into small pieces, then use glue to attach them all over the bee’s wings.
Cut out the bumblebee’s eyes and attach them with a small amount of glue.
Use a red marker to color the bee’s mouth, then cut it out and stick it on using a dab of glue.
