Supplies
- Snail template – download the free template the very bottom of this post.
- Cardstock – Used for printing the template. We chose a light purple for our background, but any color works.
- Construction paper – Plan to have one sheet each of green, pink, yellow, purple and blue.
- Scissors – For cutting out the snail’s eyes and mouth.
- Glue stick – To assemble the snail.
- Pink and black markers – For adding details.
Instructions
Print the snail template on cardstock. Use colored cardstock for the first page (we used light purple) and white cardstock for the second for best results.
Tear yellow and green construction paper into small pieces. Use the green paper to create the grass and the yellow paper for the snail’s body. Apply a small amount of glue to stick the pieces in place.
Tear your first piece of colored construction paper into small pieces. Using a small amount of glue, arrange the pieces along the outer ring of the snail’s shell.
Repeat the previous step with a second piece of colored construction paper, gluing the torn pieces to the inner ring of the snail’s shell.
Use your final color of construction paper for the innermost ring of the snail’s shell. Tear the paper into small pieces and glue them into the small circular space at the center.
Use a black marker or sharpie to color in the snail’s antennae.
Cut the snail’s eyes out. Stick them on using a dab of glue.
Use a red or pink marker to color in the snail’s mouth. Cut it out and stick it on using a dab of glue.
Let your torn paper snail craft dry completely before displaying it.
