Torn Paper Popsicle Craft

This torn paper popsicle craft is a bright and cheerful activity that’s perfect for summer!

Whether you’re at home during summer vacation, planning a day camp activity, or leading a scout troop, this craft is a fun and engaging way to keep kids entertained.

Tearing and gluing paper helps build fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness—all while letting kids explore their creativity. This is why I love torn paper crafts so much!

It’s simple, colorful, and perfect for a wide range of ages, making it an ideal project for group settings or a laid-back afternoon at home.

Supplies

  • Popsicle Template – Grab your free printable template at the bottom of this post.
  • White Cardstock – I recommend Neenah white for a sturdy, high-quality base.
  • Construction Paper – Use a variety of bright colors for a fun, eye-catching design.
  • Scissors – Kid-safe scissors are perfect for little hands.
  • Glue Stick or White Glue – Choose whatever works best for your crafters.
  • Markers, Crayons, or Colored Pencils – Great for adding details or decorating the popsicle stick.

Instructions

  1. Print the Template – Start by printing a copy of the torn paper popsicle craft template on high-quality white cardstock. I love using Neenah White—it holds up well and gives the craft a polished look.
  2. Cut It Out – Carefully cut out the popsicle shape and the large cartoon-style eyes using scissors.
  3. Color the Stick – Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in the popsicle stick portion. Have fun choosing any shade you like!
  4. Tear and Glue – Tear various colors of construction paper into small pieces. Apply glue to the popsicle shape and cover it with the torn paper, layering as you go for a fun, textured effect.
  5. Add the Eyes – Use a small dab of glue to attach the eyes to your popsicle.
  6. Give It a Face – With a black marker or Sharpie, draw on a happy smile, silly smirk, or any expression you like to bring your popsicle to life!
