Fun and Easy Newspaper Cow Craft For Kids (FREEBIE)

This easy newspaper cow craft for kids is a great way to use old newspapers creatively.

A simple craft activity for kids of all ages our newspaper cow crafts uses old newspaper, construction paper and glue to create an adorable barnyard animal craft.

Newspaper Cow Crafts For Kids

Newspaper crafts are so much fun to make – and, they’re a great way to use up old newspaper creatively!

Supplies

  • cow template – head to the very bottom of this blog post to snag a copy of the free template you’ll need to make this newspaper cow craft.
  • Cardstock – for optimal results highly recommend using at least 110lbs cardstock to make this craft. It’s far more durable.
  • Construction paper in pink, brown, black
  • Old newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Googly eyes
  • Black marker
  • Pencil

Instructions

Print a copy of our printable cow template on high quality cardstock paper. Using scissors cut out all parts of the cow template including the cow’s head, muzzle, ear, horns, nostrils and a spot.

Tear or cut old newspaper into small pieces. Apply glue and attach the torn newspaper all over the cow’s head. It’s perfectly fine if the newspaper extends beyond the edges of the template.

Use scissors to trim any excess newspaper that extends beyond the edges of the cow template. If you’re crafting with very young children, you may need to assist them with this step.

Tip: Flip the cow’s head over and trim from the back to make it easier to cut along the edges of the template.

Trace the cow’s muzzle on pink construction paper, the ears, nostrils and spot on black construction paper and the horns on brown construction paper. Then, carefully cut out each of the pieces.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the cow’s muzzle to its face.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the cow’s ears to the top of its head.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the cow’s horns to its head

Using a small amount of glue, stick the cow’s spot to it’s head.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the cow’s nostrils onto the muzzle.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the googly eyes on your cow.

Using a black marker or sharpie draw a mouth on your newspaper cow craft.

Let your newspaper cow craft dry completely before playing with it or displaying it.
