This cute torn newspaper zebra craft is a fun way to recycle old newspapers.

With basic crafting materials like construction paper and glue, kids of all ages can create their own zebra to display or play with.

Newspaper Zebra Craft For Kids

We love to craft with old newspapers. In fact, we’ve already created koala, panda, owl, penguin, elephant and fox newspaper crafts for kids.

So, we’re very excited to add this torn newspaper zebra craft to our growing collection of fun low-prep newspaper craft ideas for kids.

With basic crafting supplies including construction paper, glue and our free template children of all ages can create an adorable newspaper zebra craft they’ll be proud to show off.

Supplies

  • Zebra template – to snag a copy of the free template you’ll need to make this newspaper zebra craft scroll to the very bottom of this blog post.
  • Cardstock paper– for optimal results we highly recommend you use 110 lbs cardstock paper.
  • Construction paper in white and black
  • Pencil
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Googly eyes
  • Old newspaper

Instructions

Print a copy of our printable zebra template on high quality cardstock paper. Using scissors cut out all parts of the zebra template.

Rip some old newspaper into small pieces. Apply glue and attach the torn newspaper all over the zebra’s head and ears. It’s perfectly fine if the newspaper extends beyond the edges of the template.

Use scissors to trim any excess newspaper that extends beyond the edges of the zebra template. If you’re crafting with very young children, you may need to assist them with this step.

Tip: Flip the zebra’s head over and trim from the back to make it easier to cut along the edges of the template.

Trace the zebra’s ears, stripes, muzzle and hair on black construction paper or cardstock. Trace out the zebra’s nostrils on white cardstock or construction paper. Cut out all the pieces.

Using a small amount of glue, stick the zebra’s muzzle onto it’s head.

Use a dab of glue to stick on the zebra’s ears.

Use a dab of glue to stick on the zebra’s stripes.

Using a small amount of glue stick on the zebra’s hair.

Attach the zebras nostrils to the muzzle using a small amount of glue.

Stick on the googly eyes using a small amount of glue or use self-adhesive googly eyes if you have those.

Let your newspaper owl craft dry completely before playing with it or displaying it.
